Blur |
This assignment taught me how color and shape can bring a lot to a picture. Because we were not able to focus a picture like we usually do, I naturally focused on the shape and dimension of my pictures. I used two different cameras for this assignment so I got different results from each one. Some of these pictures have more blur than others and some of the colors blended differently due to different locations. Shape can really make or break a picture so I chose to edit these in black and white with a blueish tone because I thought that this style could better enhance the shadows and contrast. I learned a lot about shape, color, and many factors in pictures through this assignment.

Perspective Prompt ~ style
For the perspective assignment, I chose to go with the third prompt which was to use images to describe my style. I wanted to represent myself as a young girl so I placed a lot of my personal items around me that are my favorite. I wanted to make my image different than others by experimenting with the editing and props like the fake cigarette. My goal was to represent a girl just in her element, away from everyone else. This assignment was fun and helped me experiment even more with figuring out my style.

Artist as Inspiration research assignment
Robin north is a visual artist that is based in Texas and California. North mainly does photography and mixed media works that focus on history related to African Americans. He uses his photography to explore and challenge the systems of racism back then and now. He mentions structured systems of racism referring to the societal norms that have been around for many years but are slowly changing as we progress as a society. North challenges these norms and stereotypes through his artwork in hopes of making an impact with his art and changing perspectives of humankind. By capturing how these racial stereotypes affect society, he brings light to topics that are avoided or seen as controversial. The selected images shows the history of his family as African Americans and reflect the story of North and his ancestors. Robin North Inspiration Assignment
For this assignment, we had to reflect on our own experiences living in the us and I decided to make my piece about my culture. My family and I celebrate our culture by our dance and other things such as our food. After reading about Robin North and seeing his photography, I wanted to create a picture that could reflect my own culture and how it is still strong. I decided to go to the beach and have my sister model because I knew that there was no one better to model for this idea. Overall, I think that this shoot went well and was exciting to be able to represent my culture.

Diana Nicholette Jeon as Insipiration
After looking at Diana Nicholette Jeon's pictures, I was inspired to put my own twist and create pictures inspired by her. For my shoot, I wanted to capture how two people make a perfect match. I noticed that Jeon's pictures were simple but interesting and somewhat gloomy. I wanted my picture to be simple to emphasize the natural interaction between the two and I think the shoot was very fun and exciting.
Advanced Lighting
For this assignment, I shot late at night in my bathroom with one light. I decided to put the light behind me in the background and I used a lighter as a second light source. I wanted to create enough light for myself so I had to try different things like how much I left the door open and other similar factors. Overall, this was an interesting assignment and it was refreshing to do something new.
